Who is this programme for?

Designed for engineering graduates and professionals seeking advanced expertise in offshore structures, hydrodynamics, foundations, structural integrity, project management and related offshore engineering applications.

What will I learn, year by year?

Stage 1: Build foundations in wave hydrodynamics, structural dynamics, offshore foundations and fixed offshore structures. Stage 2: Develop specialist knowledge through electives such as pipelines, subsea technology, floating platforms, geohazards and HSE. Final stage: Complete Research Projects I & II, applying offshore engineering knowledge to a research or industry problem.

Where do graduates work? Name employers and roles (≤60 words)

Graduates can pursue roles across the oil and gas and offshore engineering sectors, including offshore engineer, structural engineer, subsea engineer, pipeline engineer, geotechnical engineer, safety/risk engineer, project manager and operational maintenance engineer.

One thing that makes it different at UTP

UTP states that it is the only MSc in Offshore Engineering in Malaysia, with exposure to commercial industry software such as DNV SESAM and adjunct lectures from organisations including PETRONAS and DNV.

The Research Behind It: Which area, centre and academics?

Research focuses on offshore structures, structural integrity, subsea systems, pipelines and risers, floating structures, mooring systems and metocean engineering, supported by UTP's offshore-engineering research activities. Relevant academics include Assoc Prof Ir Ts Dr Faizul Amri Adnan and offshore engineering researchers within the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering.

Cost & Funding: Which scholarships and aid apply to this programme?

No programme-specific scholarship is stated on the programme page. GA/GRA funding is generally associated with postgraduate research programmes, so applicants should check eligibility separately. Malaysian students can explore EPF withdrawal, external sponsorships and education financing where eligible.

Student Life: What should an applicant to this programme know?
