Achievements

Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) has secured top national honors for operational decarbonisation and campus energy stewardship

– National Energy Awards (NEA): Awarded Runner-Up in 2022 and Merit in 2023 under the Institutes of Higher Learning category for institutional energy efficiency.
– Low Carbon Campus 2030 Challenge: Awarded official certification in 2019 in recognition of UTP’s structured campus carbon-reduction commitments and baseline emission tracking.

Achievements

Malaysia’s largest single rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) installation at a higher education institution.

UTP’s largest physical sustainability achievement is Malaysia’s largest single rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) installation at a higher education institution. Developed in strategic partnership with Gentari, the 7.4 MWp solar installation was officially inaugurated with national-leadership support and has been supplying clean electricity across campus facilities since May 2022.

 

Achievements

In 2026, UTP student team ECOETIC achieved an international sweep at the Accounting for Sustainability International Case Competition.

 Demonstrating practical problem-solving and industry-ready capability, the team won three global awards:   

– Best Team Under Pressure   

– People’s Choice Award   

– Best Accounting Bissim Simulation
