Mission, Vision, History
The Department of Geoscience (DG) at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) was established in 2006 with the introduction of the MSc in Petroleum Geoscience programme.
Since then, DG has expanded its academic programmes, research capabilities and global presence, supported by faculty members from more than seven countries with extensive academic and industry experience. With over 1,200 graduates contributing to the global geoscience industry, the department continues to develop technically proficient, well-rounded geoscientists through future-ready curricula and state-of-the-art facilities.
DG offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes supported by two specialised research centres: the Centre for Subsurface Imaging (CSI) and Southeast Asia Clastic & Carbonate Research Laboratory (SEACARL), strengthening research, academic excellence and industry collaboration.
